Remember Ubuntu? Of course you do. Remember the distro you tried after Ubuntu? Of course you do.
Remember how did it feel not to have a tiny little app that lets you install drivers with a click? Of course....this is getting repetitive <_< Here's my point. There's nothing quite like Ubuntu( well maybe a Ubuntu based distro lol).Ubuntu is too easy for a noob to move on. After Ubuntu,I tried Fedora.I was like: Ok where the hell is that thinngy that lets me install drivers...huh no fedora-restricted-extras ??They don't have any proprietary software in their repos? Nooo
Yep,total fail.
Every time I try a new distro I consider myself a windows fanboy who just found out about "Linux"
Every time I was disappointed by the amount of friendliness I encountered --> 0

But..with Sabayon it was different:
There was no need for "thinggy" to install NVIDIA proprietary drivers. They were already installed.
No need for codecs --> already there. Just to be sure I installed "vlc" using Sulfur ( awesome tool btw with both a simple and a advanced interface )
The overall desktop experience was great. The flash player plug in was already installed by default, they even added an update notifier for extreme noob cases when one can't the big [ Sync ] button in the Sulfur interface.

One final thing.Updates are released really often.Right now there should be like 700 packages that need updating.Just grab the daily iso from the "iso" folder and you're going to have a Sbayon system with all updates already installed right after you reboot your pc.

lol! another romanian sabayon linux geek? me too!

and not for a year, not even two, but for a very looong time, in that old times i remember that was not sabayon linux but only a simple gentoo linux livedvd with beryl out of the box and with a distro name like RR4 linux

i jumped to sabayon when mandrake linux failed to make a smooth transition to mandriva linux ... until now no need to jump over to other distro, tried ubuntu spins several times but always come back to my trusted sabayon linux ...

the best thing about sabayon linux is its strong ties with gentoo linux and in the same time being a binary distro ... 100% compatibility with gentoo and portage means that when you need to install some strange source code only program you can turn to gentoo portage huge ebuilds database or even make your private ebuild quickly and in the same time for everyday kde and gentoo programs you can use equo binaries with little fuss ...

and all proprietary drivers and programs is here, adobe flash, adobe acrobat reader, mplayer windows video codecs, that stupid mp3 versus ogg atitude has no place here, nvidia drivers and so on is here, ready available in equo database with no need of extra steps to install!

more accent to linus philosophy of neutrality and no bias about proprietary versus open source debate ... if works and can be installed/is available then thats it! who care if is open source or binary blobs only if just works!? not average users, who account for 80-90% of all users, this is for sure!
